Carew, Rott Lead Rays Alumni

The past two weeks have seen some Rays put on some impressive displays in college baseball.  Here are some of the best performers from the GRB program from April 8th – 21st.

Kent State is currently being carried by GRB alumni.  Ben Carew is leading the team with a .381 average, Kian O’Brien is second with a .310 average, and Pete Schuler is third with a .296 clip.  Carew is 18-for-18 in stolen bases and has 23 RBI’s.  O’Brien has 6 homers and 24 RBI’s. Schuler has 4 jacks with 25 RBI’s.

The past two weeks Carew has went 14-for-36 with 4 doubles, a bomb, and 8 RBIs.  O’Brien has been equally impressive, going 10-for-33 with 12 RBIs. Of those 10 hits, 6 of the 10 went for extra bases (3 doubles, a triple, two home runs).  Schuler went 4-for-15.

Rudy Rott went 6-for-16 this week with a bomb.  For the year Rott, is leading Ohio with a .343 average with 8 yahtzees.

Logan Michaels is hitting .327 for Virginia.  Michaels only has 9 strikeouts in 98 at bats for the Hoos.  Michaels has been the starting catcher in 29 of the Cavalier’s games this season.  Michaels average is good for 2nd on the team among players who have played consistently.

Connor Rutherford went 15-for-42 with two home runs, 2 triples, 2 doubles, seven RBIs and nine runs scored for Lewis University.

Ryan Schmitt has a 3.27 ERA out of the pen for Illinois.  Schmitt has given up just 1 run in his last 4.2 innings, with 7 strikeouts.

Jack Eagan put up 3 ⅓ scoreless innings for Mississippi State. Eagan tallied 6 punch outs during those innings.

Jack Collins went 3 scoreless for Central Michigan.  Teammate Grant Frazer tallied 5 ⅔ scoreless.

Joe Acker went 6-for-20 for Nebraska, with a ridiculous amount of web gems.

Tanner Kohlhepp has a scoreless inning for Tennessee.

Trevor Olson went 4 scoreless for Xavier.

Jordan Krueger went three scoreless outings in row, with 3 innings total for the Flames of UIC.  

Zach Gustafson and Jack Brown put up scoreless weeks.  Gustafson had 2 scoreless, and Brown pitched in a scoreless inning for Minnesota State.

Aaron Mutter gave up four runs in 12 innings for Winona State, with 9 strikeouts.

Ryan Venne hit 3 jacks for Lindenwood in 28 at bats.

Shane Coker went 7-for-17 for UW-LaCrosse with 5 RBI’s.

Keith Kutzler put up 4 ⅔ scoreless innings for UW-Whitewater.

GRB’s Madison College Wolfpack has been really playing lights out.  Madison College has won 23 of their last 24 games. They have not lost in their last 15 games, going 15-0.

Adam LaRock has been unconscious for Madison College.  LaRock went 16-for-35 for the Wolfpack.LaRock is second on the team with a .386 average, with 4 bombs.

Walker Jenkins went 20-for-51 with 4 doubles and triple.  Jenkins is hitting .321 on the year, and is 14-for-14 in stolen bases.  

Eliot Turnquist has been lights out for the Wolfpack.  His past two weeks had him strike out 10 in 5 and ⅓ innings.  For the year, Turnquist has a 1.21 ERA, with 38 strikeouts in 22 and ⅓ innings.

Derek Lee went 7-for-31 with 3 stolen bases.
