Rays Alums Stay Hot as the Homestretch Nears
Week 10 of college baseball is in the books, as teams are gearing up for the stretch run into conference tournaments and the NCAA Regionals, roughly 4 and 5 weeks out. Several Rays had great weeks, highlighted by freshman Ryan Venne’s week at the plate for Lindenwood University.
Ryan Venne was lit up this week for Lindenwood University, going 7-for-14 with 2 HR’s and 9 RBIs.
Teammate Calvin Nowak was 6-for-13 with 2 stolen bases, and 2 RBI’s.
Grant Frazer earned a save in 3.2 innings of work, striking out 5 for Central Michigan and their sweep of in state rival Western Michigan.
Sam Lund was a winner for Bradley, who is red hot right now with a 27-13 record currently. Lund went 5 innings, with 1 hit and no earned runs versus Missouri State.
Joe Acker was 3-for-11 with 6 BB’s, 3 RBIs, and the game winning walk-off on Saturday night for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
In the Ohio versus Kent State series, there were 6 former GRB Rays on the field.
Rudy Rott had a weekend, going 7-for-13 for the Ohio Bobcats versus Kent State.
On the other side, Ben Carew led the charge going 7-for-16 with 2 bombs on the week. Carew is leading the Golden Flashes with a .396 average, and is 19-for-19 in stolen bases.
Kian O’Brien put on a hitting display as well going 7-for-16 with a home run and 6 RBIs.
Pete Schuler was 4-for-15 on the week.
Connor Wollersheim got the win on Friday versus Ohio, lasting 6 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run, with 7 strikeouts.
Aaron Mutter went complete game for Winona State. Mutter gave up 2 runs, on 4 hits, with 9 strikeouts.
Jordan Krueger threw a scoreless 1 ⅓ innings for the UIC Flames allowing 1 hit, punching out 2 batters.
Alec Trela put together a 6-for-19 week, notching 7 RBI’s.
