Gustafson Decides on East Carolina
Eau Claire, WI native Zach Gustafson has announced his commitment to continue his baseball and academic career at Division I East Carolina University located in Greenville, NC.
The lanky righty hopped on the recruiting scene this summer while showcasing a good three pitch mix to go along with a very projectable body. With a fastball that shows present velocity up to 86 MPH that works from 3/4 slot, Gustafson creates deception which is tough on right handed hitters. His breaking ball shows tight spin with sharp downward action. Look for Gustafson’s velocity to spike when he adds strength to his 170 lb. frame.
Gustafson is the first player from the Rays organization to commit to East Carolina. A participant in the American Athletic Conference, the Pirates are led by head man Cliff Godwin who will be in his fourth season at the helm. Godwin has enjoyed early success as a head coach with the Pirates making a NCAA Regional twice in his first three seasons.
With his commitment to East Carolina, Zach Gustafson becomes the 14th Rays player in the 2018 class to commit to a Division I school.
