Former Rays Player Danny Jansen Called to Big League Camp
Former Rays catcher Danny Jansen has been called to Big League camp with the Toronto Blue Jays. Jansen reported to Dunedin, Florida, the Spring Training home of the Blue Jays this afternoon. Jansen played with the Rays from 2011-13.
Jansen (Appleton, Wis./Appleton West) was selected in the 16th Rd. of the 2013 MLB Draft and signed out of high school, after accepting a scholarship offer from Jacksonville University. In 2016, Jansen was the 29th ranked prospect in the Blue Jays organization.
Playing in the Arizona Fall League, a league for the top prospects in Major League Baseball, Jansen batted .282 in 20 games played for the Mesa Solar Sox. In 184 career Minor League games, Jansen sports a .234 batting average with 11 home runs, 30 doubles and 90 RBI. Jansen has 81 career walks and 90 career strikeouts.
