Schild Chooses Saint Louis
Fox Valley Lutheran product Colten Schild has announced his commitment to play collegiate baseball at Division I Saint Louis University located in St. Louis, MO.
The speedy infielder was seen patrolling the middle of the diamond as well as hitting in the leadoff spot for the Rays 16U team this past summer. Schild shows smooth actions in the infield, where he projects best at second base when he arrives to the Billikens. Projecting highest at the plate, Schild shows a pull side approach which produces surprising power given his smaller frame. A 6.9 runner, Schild has the speed to stick in the middle of the field.
Schild becomes the latest Ray to join the Billiken pipeline which has seen four players commit in the past three seasons. Schild joins fellow 2018 grads Sean O’Brien and Jarrett Fueger, as well as 2016 grad Keith Kutzler who is currently in his freshman season with Saint Louis. The Billikens are led by Darrin Hendrickson who is in his ninth year as the head man. Saint Louis is coming off a season which saw them advance to the Atlantic 10 conference tournament. The Billikens have had a player heard his name called in the MLB First Year Player Draft in each of the past four seasons.
Schild becomes the 11th Rays player in the 2018 class to commit to a school at the Division I level.
