Two Former Rays Announce Commitments
Former Rays players Kian O’Brien and Cade Bunnell, currently Sophomores at Madison College, have announced their commitments to four-year schools. Both 2015 grads, O’Brien is in his second year for the Wolfpack while Bunnell has begun his first year at Madison after transferring from Kansas State where he played his freshman year in 2016.
Kian O’Brien, a Madison LaFollette Alum will play at Divison I Kent State University following the 2017 season with the Wolfpack and will transfer there with two years of eligibility. Prior to his two seasons at Madison College, O’Brien was a standout for the Rays where he showed an advanced bat and the ability to play any position on the field. O’Brien joins a long list of former Rays that have played their college baseball for the Golden Flashes. 2015 grads Pete Schuler and Connor Wollersheim are in their sophomore seasons. 2016 grad Ben Carew is in his freshman year, while 2017 grad Nick Elsen will join O’Brien in Kent in the fall of 2017.
Cade Bunnell of Stoughton, WI announced he will be attending Division I University of Indiana after completing his year at Madison College. Bunnell will enter Indiana with two years to play. Originally a Kansas State commit out of high school, Bunnell played his freshman year for the Wildcats before transferring to Madison College. The left-handed hitting Bunnell gained interest from some of the top schools in the country after his transfer, but ultimately decided to become a Hoosier. With his commitment Bunnell becomes the fourth Rays player to play or commit for the Hoosiers. 2014 grad Tony Butler is in his senior year and was recently named the NCAA Gold Glove winner. 2016 grad Jack Eagan is in his freshman year, while 2018 grad Jeff Holtz is committed and set to arrive on campus in the fall of 2018.
